Cass Jameson Series

Dead Man's Thoughts

In Cass Jameson's first appearance, she turns reluctant detective when her Legal Aid colleague and lover, Nathan Wasserstein, is murdered. Convinced his death was not the gay killing police suspect, she tracks the murderer through the back streets of Brooklyn and the corridors of the criminal courthouse.

Where Nobody Dies

Cass didn't like Linda Ritchie, and she doesn't much care who killed her client and tenant. But Linda's twelve-year-old daughter Dawn cares, and she is devastated when her beloved father is arrested for the crime. Since Linda was an amateur blackmailer, Cass uncovers a multitude of motives and suspects before she unmasks the true killer.

Fresh Kills

When an old friend convinces Cass to take on an adoption case, she reluctantly agrees. The case takes her into the shadowy world of gray-market adoptions, and into the literal swamp known as Fresh Kills.

Mean Streak

Matt Riordan, Mafia lawyer and ex-lover, faces federal bribery charges. For Cass, defending him in Manhattan federal court is like riding a scary roller coaster. Things turn even uglier when the chief witness against Matt is found dead at the top of the courthouse steps.

Troubled Waters

After her brother, a quadriplegic Vietnam veteran, is charged with a murder that took place years ago, attorney Cass Jameson immediately takes on the case to defend him, but as various personal issues start to become public, she begins to fear what may eventually surface.

Sworn to Defend

Brooklyn lawyer Cass Jameson can't believe her luck! She finally has an innocent client. But after she proves the man innocent of robbery charges, she learns that he's guilty of a far worse crime.
